There's something we don't always think about when it comes to teaching. That’s because our students are always our first priority. After all, they are the reason we do what we do. The reason we come to work every day and the reason we spend countless hours planning those intricate lessons that we do. But there's just something about having teammates that support you. Having a teammate that supports you goes such a long way. At the end of the day, they are the person there to help you reflect, help you decide and help you deal with whatever the day has thrown at you. The team you teach with and the peers you work with are so valuable to you as a teacher. You learn from them, grow from them and you rely on them. School unity and team support are such crucial parts of teaching. No one ever said teaching is for the weak hearted. We pour our hearts into what we do and without our team, there is no backbone. Your team is who understands, who builds you up when you are down, who teaches you when you are the one who doesn't understand. And at the end of the day, they are your people. You become one with those that you teach with. You don't always agree. You don't always get along. However, you are all there for that same common reason; your students. Having a team to bounce ideas off of, to build with, connect with and innovate with is huge. From the secretaries, to coaches, to nurses, custodians, principals and teachers; your team is everything. The team is the heart and soul of the school. Each and every person is an intricate piece of the puzzle and serves a vital role within the team. For that, I thank each person and each intricate part of my school. And most importantly, I thank my teammate; for without you I would be half the teacher I am today.
